Mac OS X Server 1.2 Released January 14th, 2000 Mac OS X Server 1.2 was an update to the original Mac OS X Server which was the first release from Apple after their acquisition of NeXT. This was an odd operating system made from a combination of Mac OS, Nextstep and what would be Mac OS X.
Unlike all versions of Mac OS X from the public beta onward Mac OS X Server 1.2 used Display PostScript for screen drawing. Display PDF was (and still is) used in the final Mac OS X. OS X Server 1.x limits you to using a UFS (UNIX File System) formatted drive as the boot disk. All released versions of Mac OS X work on normal HFS+ drives. Classic under OS X Server 1.x doesn't need you to install a copy of 8.x or 9.x for use with Classic mode, it will copy a small system folder into a new disk image just for you. Kinda sucks that this was changed in later versions. Tear-off menus work on almost every menu in this version. Later Mac OS versions such as Mac OS X Developer Preview 2 that will only let you do it on a few menus. This will let you change the colours of the window elements. Some of the presets include NeXT-style colours. Please link to pages, not directly to images. All screenshots are submitted to this site.
We do not have any copies of these operating systems. Nor do we know where to find them. 4 users viewing this site • Page viewed 1838 times • ©2002-2007 Peter Brockie ![]() Contact Me • Legal info • About This Site • Site Stats • Forcedpefect.net • Billboards.forcedperfect.net Digg This
