Copland (Build d11e4) (Code name: Spaz) Copland was to be Apple's answer to all the newer generation operating systems which had protected memory (which prevents one program from crashing your computer), real multitasking and smarter virtual memory. It was to be released as Mac OS 8.0, however the version of Mac OS 8.0 which was released has little in common with Copland which was basically being made from scratch.
Copland was scrapped when it became appearent that the project was in a death spiral (technical term). What? No About This Macintosh picture? Normally I ask that all submitted screenshots include an About This Macintosh photo, however, in this Developer Release there isn't even a menu item for that! Many items in Copland's Mac OS Folder (notice it isn't called 'System Folder') are ones you won't see anywhere else. Personally, I really like the icons. By the way, the test system crashed after each screenshot was taken - forcing a reboot every time. Mac OS Folder is Copland, while System Folder is the System 7.5 install. Copland also makes some log files while doing its thing, as you can see in the photo. 'Disconnect' must be for mounted servers, however, because this version doesn't have AppleShare, this could not be tested. Finder Preferences is similar to General Controls. However, like recent Mac OS versions, it is accessible from a menu in the Finder. Please link to pages, not directly to images. All screenshots are submitted to this site.
We do not have any copies of these operating systems. Nor do we know where to find them. 3 users viewing this site • Page viewed 4391 times • ©2002-2007 Peter Brockie ![]() Contact Me • Legal info • About This Site • Site Stats • Forcedpefect.net • Billboards.forcedperfect.net Digg This
